Knox Park Board to Consider Safety Suggestions

City of Knox logoThe Knox Park Board will consider suggestions offered recently to curb vandalism at Wythogan Park when they meet this evening. Mayor Rick Chambers recently hosted a community discussion to gather thoughts on the issue. Afterward he said several good suggestions were offered, including a stronger police presence and writing more curfew tickets to juveniles who are in the park after hours. Continue reading

WoodStarke Organizers Meeting Today

woodstarkeThe organizers of Starke County’s newest festival are meeting this afternoon to get ready for the upcoming event. The WoodStarke Committee will convene from 3 until 5 p.m. at the Starke County Chamber of Commerce and Visitor’s Center Office, which is located in the depot on U.S. 35 at the north edge of the city. Sandy Acres Park Closed for Improvements

A park in Knox will be closed for the next several days for some infrastructure improvements. Parking lot paving at Sandy Acres Park on South Heaton Street is set to begin today. It will take about a week to complete. IU Health Starke Hospital employees have also scheduled a work day at Sandy Acres on Friday, May 30. They plan to install some new fitness equipment and do some painting. Knox Park Superintendent George Byer says Wythogen and Heritage Parks will still be open. Sandy Acres will reopen next week once the improvements are finished.
