Come out to Wythogan Park on August 29 for an event full of music, food and fun for everyone. WoodStarke is scheduled to commence at 10 am and run all day on that Saturday in August. Throughout the day, highlights will include a variety of music, games for the kids and artistic displays as well as activities focusing on local talent and Starke County. Similar to last year’s event all activities and healthy food will be free to the public, however this year’s event will feature something new. Continue reading
The city was presented a thank you note for their efforts. The festival featured local artists, local music, HealthLinc’s mobile dental unit, a cornhole tournament, dance and exercise classes, a Moving Starke County Forward One Mile at a Time walk and a county-wide scavenger hunt.
Downtown Knox will be bustling today with a veteran’s parade and the free WoodStarke Festival at Wythogan Park. The parade organized by the Blue Star Mothers will begin at 10 a.m. CT at Five Star and concludes at the Starke County Courthouse. U.S. Senator Joe Donnelly, Representative Jackie Walorski and veterans will speak on the courthouse steps after the parade concludes. The inaugural WoodStarke Festival at Wythogan Park in Knox promises a day full of healthy, family fun. A group of volunteers has put together a slate of activities. They will be set to a background of music by local, original bands from genres ranging from bluegrass and bagpipes to hard rock. Performers include Commander, Culver Pipes and Drums, Jerry Nenycz, Damien Acoustics, Adam Combs, Josh Grace, 10 Gauge, Welder and Company, South of Sorrow and Seldom Told. Continue reading
Organizers of next weekend’s WoodStarke Festival at Wythogan Park in Knox are looking for vendors for the farmer’s market and artists who would like to display their wares. The Art in the Park area will be along the walkway near the Yellow River. Participants must bring their own easels or other displays. Sales are not allowed during the event, but arrangements may be made for later purchase. Continue reading
Moving Starke County Forward’s Another Step Forward walking challenge has ended for 2014.
Those who have participated in the effort since Memorial Day will need to send in their total steps to email@example.com. The deadline to send in steps will be Friday, Sept. 5.
The organizers of Starke County’s newest festival are meeting this afternoon to get ready for the upcoming event. The WoodStarke Committee will convene from 3 until 5 p.m. at the Starke County Chamber of Commerce and Visitor’s Center Office, which is located in the depot on U.S. 35 at the north edge of the city.
