Winston Yergler

Our Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete of the Week for this week is Winston Yergler, a member of the Boys Basketball Team at North Judson-San Pierre High School.

Winston had a career night in leading his team to a victory over arch-rival Knox in the opening game of his Senior season.

A 6-2 point guard for the Blue Jays, he scored 21 points, came up with 5 steals, hit two 3-pointers, cashed in 9 of 10 free throws, pulled down 5 rebounds and handed out 4 assists as the Jays cruised to an 80-24 win.

Winston is in his second year as a starter for the Jays, who are 23-2 in that stretch.

He will be featured on “Sports Talk with Nathan Welter” Thursday night on WKVI with a featured picture and story on wkvi.com.

Winston Yergler

Our Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete of the Week for this week is Winston Yergler, a member of the Boys Basketball Team at North Judson-San Pierre High School.

Winston led the Jays to a Sectional championship with a team-high 49 points in 3 games, hitting 13 against both Hebron and Culver and a career-high 23 in the championship game win over Winamac.

The 6-1 Junior has been in double figures in 7 of the last 8 games as he has also settled in to becoming more of a ball handler for the Jays as well.

In addition to lettering in tennis last Fall in his first season as a Blue Jay Athlete, Winston is also an outstanding student, ranking 11th in his class with a 9.2 GPA on a 12 point scale, qualifying as a member of the National Honor Society.

Winston is the son of Greg and Robbin Yergler and will be featured on “Sports Talk with Nathan Welter” Thursday night on WKVI.

The North Judson Blue Jays won the school’s 20th Sectional Championship in boys’ basketball. The Jays defeated Hebron, Culver, and Winamac to move on to Regional competition.
