Indiana farmers are preparing for their fall harvests and the Indiana State Department of Agriculture is asking local motorists to be mindful.

A Knox man is facing multiple charges after Plymouth Police searched his vehicle during a traffic stop.
Last Thursday, officers with the Starke County Sheriff’s Office conducted a four-hour saturation patrol on US 30. They employed the help of K9 Terror in the effort.

That’s because planting season is in full swing. Farmers often use local roads to navigate between fields. According to the Indiana Department of Transportation, this means car drivers should be more alert.
A federally funded program that allows law enforcement officers to work additional hours will not be in use in Starke County this year.
Operation Pull Over is designed to target areas that are considered problematic by enforcing traffic laws and seatbelt violations more aggressively. The Knox City Police Department oversaw the program’s operation last year in conjunction with the Starke County Sheriff’s Department.
Today the La Porte County Family YMCA is hosting it’s 35th annual Triathlon starting at Soldier’s Memorial Park. It is scheduled to run from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. The course includes roads located inside Soldiers Memorial Park, those bordering the park, and Small Road from Garden Street to County Road 700 West.
