Summer Cooling Program Begins July 1

  
 

The summer cool program is about to begin.

Community Services of Starke County, Pulaski County Human Services, Inc., and North Central Community Action Agencies, Inc. will accept applications starting July 1. Residents must bring in income information for the past year for each member of the household, a current utility bill, a lease if the home is rented, and a social security card for each household member. New applicants may start calling June 23 to schedule an appointment for July. The program will run through Aug. 15.

Pulaski County Human Services Offers Summer Cool Program

The Summer Cool Program is being offered through Pulaski County Human Services, Inc. and the North Central Community Action Agencies.

The program provides an additional $65 toward an electric utility for those who signed up for the winter energy assistance program. New applications will be taken by appointment starting July 2. Air conditioners will be available on a first come, first served basis to current and new residents who are eligible. In order to receive this benefit, you must be financially eligible based on the income guidelines of the program, have a person living in your home who is elderly or disabled, or have a child under the age of six.

If you signed up for the winter energy assistance program and need help with cooling assistance this summer, the Summer Cool Program through Community Services of Starke County will provide an additional $65 toward your electric bill.

Air conditioners will be available on a first come, first served basis this summer to current and new members, if you qualify. You must meet three requirements to be eligible for the air conditioner installation program. You must be financially eligible based on the income guidelines for the program, you must have a residing member that is elderly or if you have a child under the age of six and have a verified medical requirement for an air conditioner. Air Conditioner Certification affidavit forms are available at Community Services of Starke County and must be completed by a doctor or nurse practitioner.
