Update About Upgrades to Nancy J. Dembowski Community Center

An update about ongoing renovations to the Nancy J. Dembowski Community Center was provided by Mayor Dennis Estok during last night’s brief Knox City Council meeting.

Mayor Estok told council members that work being done to the heating and air conditioning systems is nearly complete. He said only one compressor still needs to be installed. He went on to say that roofers will be commencing their work this week, possibly as soon as today. Continue reading

Winamac Town Council Receives Updates on Police Station Renovations

Members of the Winamac Town Council received a couple of updates about renovations to the new police station during their meeting Monday evening. Town Marshall Mike Buchanan said that a new building on Main Street was purchased back in January and renovations started around March. He predicts they’re approximately 4-6 weeks away from occupying the new space.

During the Town Manager report at the meeting, Brad Zellers told members all that’s left to do is ceiling, door and flooring installation, as well as work that needs done in the parking lot. Continue reading

Culver Continues Search for New Park Director in Face of Building Renovations

The search for a new Park Director hasn’t slowed down efforts to rehabilitate the park lodge in Culver.

Right now, applications are being accepted for the position – which was vacated at the end of 2015 by Marc Hayden. He unexpectedly accepted a position as an aquatics instructor with a school corporation in St. Joseph County.

Pulaski County Commissioners Consider Start of Courthouse Renovations

Pulaski County CourthouseConsiderations have been made for some time, but weeks of side comments during meetings has led a first step to be taken when it comes to renovating the Pulaski County Courthouse.

During Monday evening’s Pulaski County Commissioners meeting, it was learned that an engineering firm will appear in Winamac to get an overview for the courthouse renovations. Plans are still in their preliminary stages.

Eastern Pulaski Schools Contract Construction Specialist

 
 

The process for renovations at Eastern Pulaski Schools took another step during Monday night’s School Board meeting.

Board members discussed, and approved, letting bids on the $14-million project. Bids are expected back sometime in March after an extensive design process. Eastern Pulaski Schools Superintendent Dan Foster says they don’t quite know how many firms will see the project.
