Nominations Now Open for Age of Excellence Awards

Nominations are now being accepted for the REAL Services’ 22nd Annual Age of Excellence Awards.

Each year, REAL Services celebrates unsung heroes of several local counties including Marshall and La Porte. The organization seeks to acknowledge those members of our communities who go above and beyond to care for elderly and low-income individuals.

Nominations are being accepted for eight award categories including Business of the year, The Wyatt Mick Volunteer of the Year, the Les Fox Hoosier Lifetime Award, Caregiver of the Year, Professional of the Year, Agency/Program Serving Low-income Award, Change Agent of the Year and the Sergeant Shriver Lifetime Achievement Award. Marshall County Community Foundation Distributes $66,210 in Grant Funds

Over $66,200 in grant funds were awarded to 10 organizations in Marshall County Thursday afternoon.

The Marshall County Community Foundation held its second round of 2014 Community Fund grants where non-profit organizations submitted proposals for specific projects. Linda Yoder, Executive Director of the Marshall County Community Foundation explained that the Community Fund is one of the most flexible and responsive of the Foundation’s 318 funds.

Real Services in Culver to Offer Thanksgiving Meal

Real Services in Culver is offering a Thanksgiving meal to those aged 60 and older who may not have a place to go for the holiday.

Site Director Cecelia Moroni said the dinner will be on Tuesday, Nov. 26 at the site at the Culver Beach Lodge beginning at Noon ET. Turkey will be served along with mashed sweet potatoes, corn bread stuffing, green bean almondine, cranberries and pumpkin pie.
