Two Arrested on Drug Charges in Pulaski County

Two people were arrested on drug charges after a traffic stop by the West Central High School on Monday.

A deputy with the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department asked the driver, Jaime Walker, if he could search the vehicle and she gave the officer permission to do so. When the officer approached the passenger side of the vehicle, he reportedly witnessed passenger, Tammy Grigsby, pass a small plastic bag between the seats to Tony Grigsby, Jr. In his search of the vehicle, the officer saw a prescription pill bottle in Tammy Grigsby’s purse with another individual’s name on it and a small plastic bag with prescription pills and marijuana in it.

Four Arrested after Alleged Stabbing Incident

Four people were arrested after an alleged stabbing incident in Medaryville.

On March 6th, Pulaski County police were called to the Marathon Gas Station where Lori Schultz told police that Clifford Cole reportedly “went crazy”. While in the driveway outside her house, Cole pulled a knife out and threatened her, Edward Schroeder, Jessica Sturgell and Curtis Luedtke. At some point, Cole and Schroeder got into a struggle over the knife and both were injured in the mishap.

Monon Residents Arrested after Traffic Stop

Two Monon residents were arrested after a traffic stop on U.S. 421 and County Road 300 South.

Pulaski County police say they asked Tammy Mason to exit her vehicle and she was unsteady on her feet. She had to brace herself on the vehicle to walk and talk to police. She agreed to participate in several sobriety tests which she reportedly failed. She also reportedly submitted to a Portable Breath Test which registered .194 BAC. She was arrested on preliminary charges of Operating While Intoxicated with a BAC of .15% or greater, and Operating While Intoxicated-Endangering, both misdemeanor charges.

Francesville Man Arrested after Crashing into House

A Francesville man was arrested on Saturday, March 3rd, after he drove a car into a house

Police were called to the accident site and the caller said the driver was trying to walk away from the vehicle. Police found the vehicle to have heavy front-end damage and rear damage. The windshield had a spider web crack which indicated the driver was not restrained and hit the windshield. The house also sustained damage.

Intoxicated San Pierre Man Arrested at Winamac High School

A San Pierre man was arrested Tuesday after police found him to be intoxicated and in possession of prescription medication while at the Winamac boys basketball Sectional tournament.

A student approached Pulaski County Sheriff’s deputies at the high school and told them that a man was in the stands threatening students and he smelled of alcohol. Police lead Craig Madsen into a hallway and asked him if he had been drinking. He denied drinking alcohol and became argumentative. Police administered several sobriety tests and found him to be under the influence. He consented to a Portable Breath Test which reportedly registered .085 BAC. Madsen was told he was under arrest for Public Intoxication.

Indiana State Police, Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department to Step up DUI Patrols

Troopers from the Indiana State Police, Lowell District will be participating in a drunk driving blitz beginning tomorrow.

Through Sunday, March 18th, officers will work overtime to conduct high-visibility enforcement activities designed specifically to identify impaired drivers. You will see an increased number of officers patrolling for aggressive drivers and unrestrained motorists during the 17-day mobilization.

Pulaski County Police Find Wanted Man Underneath House

A Francesville man was captured after police found him hiding underneath his house.

On Tuesday, February 21st, Pulaski County officers were notified of the whereabouts of Randall Grigsby who was known to have a warrant out for his arrest. The anonymous caller reportedly said he was out of control and that he was on something.

Officers went to Grisby’s house and one resident said she thought Grigsby had left the residence just moments ago. Officers searched the residence and didn’t find him. Officers searched a vehicle on the premises and found drug paraphernalia between the driver’s door and the seat. The item was seized and put into evidence. However, Grigsby was not hiding in the vehicle.

Medaryville Man Arrested on a Domestic Battery Charge

A Medaryville man was arrested on Sunday on suspicion of domestic battery.

The victim told police that she and her husband, Michael Niehaus, had been drinking and had an argument at the bar. They left the establishment and were sitting in their vehicle when he began poking her in the head with his finger. She told police that the action was causing her head to bounce off the passenger side window of the vehicle. They reportedly continued fighting and he allegedly hit her in the face. She exited the vehicle and began to walk away. Niehaus reportedly coerced her back into the truck and they went home.

Kewanna Man Arrested for Driving under the Influence of Alcohol

A Kewanna man was arrested Sunday after police found he was driving his vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

A Pulaski County police officer observed a car coming from The Eagles Lodge in Winamac, traveling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle continued north on U.S. 35 and the officer reportedly saw the vehicle’s speed fluctuate and it crossed the center line and fog line. A traffic stop was conducted at the intersection of U.S. 35 and 700 North. The officer asked the driver, Seth Kasten, to exit the vehicle and participate in several sobriety tests. Kasten reportedly failed all of the tests and a Portable Breathalizer Test showed that his blood alcohol content was .121, which is over the legal limit.

Two Winamac Men Arrested after Traffic Stop

David Luttrell and Wyatt Hagerman, of Winamac, were arrested Friday after a traffic stop.

Officers from the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department stopped David Luttrell’s car and found that he was operating a vehicle with a suspended Driver’s License. When the officer approached the vehicle, he reportedly saw a passenger in the vehicle attempting hide something in the back seat. Police asked the passenger, Wyatt Hagerman, to step out of the vehicle. The officer allegedly saw a spoon and a bright orange cap from a syringe protruding from the pocket of his jeans. Officers also reportedly found a plastic bag containing seven syringes.

Two Arrested after Tearing up a Yard in Pulaski County

Two North Judson residents were arrested Sunday after they were reportedly tearing up a resident’s yard on 750 North in Pulaski County.

An officer with the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department responded to the residence. The owners reportedly had a run-in with Allen before and had buried 2X4 boards with nails sticking out of them in the front yard. Allen had allegedly showed up at the house, revved his engine and started doing donuts in the yard. The owners ran outside with a baseball bat and Allen exited his vehicle and they all exchanged words. Allen then reportedly got back into his truck and drove the truck toward the residents. They then called police.

Winamac Man Arrested on an OVWI Charge

A Winamac man was arrested Saturday on drunk driving charges after he showed signs of driving under the influence.

An officer from the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department saw a suspicious vehicle and followed it for a while. The vehicle then turned into a driveway on Adams Street in Winamac but no one exited the vehicle. The officer watched the vehicle and it left two minutes later. The driver then approached the intersection of State Road 119 and Boyles Street and failed to come to a complete stop at the intersection. The officer conducted a traffic stop and after interviewing the driver, asked him to step out of the vehicle and began to conduct tests to see if the driver was impaired.

Medaryville Man Arrested on OVWI Charge

Forty-four-year-old Todd Fischer of Medaryville was arrested on Saturday, Jan. 28 on preliminary charges of Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated when police found him passed out in the driver’s seat of a still-running vehicle.

Police received a call concerning a possible drunk driver on County Road 700 South, and when police went to check it out, they were unable to locate the suspect vehicle—that is, until they received more information and soon found the vehicle traveling on State Road 39. The vehicle pulled into a driveway in the 2700 block of South State Road 39, and the police were able to identify the vehicle as the silver Ford Taurus they had been looking for.

Winamac Man Arrested for Alleged Battery Incident

31-year-old Wesley Hurley, of Winamac, was arrested Saturday after an alleged battery incident.

A deputy from the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department was notified of the incident and was enroute to the residence when he saw a man waving his arms in the air to gain his attention. The officer walked up to the residence where he could hear a man yelling at a woman. The woman then opened the front door and the officer could see that she had been crying and her clothes were torn and she was injured.

Winamac Man Arrested after Driving under the Influence

Jeremy Miller, 33, of Winamac, was arrested Saturday after he was found to be driving under the influence.

Pulaski County Police were called to the town of Pulaski after a call was received about a man who reportedly had driven from a residence with his three children and he had been drinking. An officer pulled over Miller’s vehicle and his mother pulled up in a truck across the street. The officer allowed Miller’s three children to be taken from the scene into the custody of his mother. Police then conducted several sobriety tests and Miller allegedly failed every one. A portable breath test showed that he was over the legal limit. He was transported to the Pulaski County Jail.

Pulaski County Police Arrest Rochester Man for Battery

Officers from the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department arrested a Rochester man after he allegedly battered his wife on Sunday.

The victim told police that she and Derek Keller were drinking and they were on their way home when an argument ensued. Keller reportedly struck the victim with a closed fist in the forehead. She grabbed the keys out of the ignition and the vehicle stopped in the roadway. She ran to a home nearby and the homeowner drove her home and she called police.

Two North Judson Residents Arrested on Methamphetamine Charges

Two North Judson men were arrested on Tuesday, January 17th after Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department officers reportedly found items used in the manufacture of methamphetamine in their vehicle.

Police initiated a traffic stop at County Road 800 North and U.S. 421. The officer notified the driver, Donald Fletcher, that the license plates did not match the vehicle. Fletcher said he didn’t have the money to get the proper plates and he reportedly told police that he knew they weren’t the right plates and Starke County police recently towed the vehicle for the same reason.

North Judson Woman Arrested on Battery Charges

A North Judson woman was arrested in Pulaski County on Tuesday, January 17th after reportedly hit a police officer as she was being placed into custody.

Pulaski County officers were called to a residence in Medaryville after Sharon Nielsen was in a verbal argument with her husband. Her husband told police that she came home from the bar and an argument began. Nielsen had gone out to her car and her husband locked the door behind her. She began breaking windows and he called police. He said he wasn’t going to let her back into the house if she continued her destructive behavior.

Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department Offers 911 Public Education Classes

The staff at the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department is offering 911 public education classes to groups who are interested.

911 public education informs children how and when to call 911 and what to do when the 911 operator answers. The classes also teach adults about the questions 911 operators must ask in order to dispatch the appropriate assistance.

Officials can talk to school groups, pre-school groups, church groups or any other group who is interested in gathering as much information as possible on the 911 procedures.
