Eastern Pulaski School Board to Consider Teacher Contract Tonight

The Eastern Pulaski School Board will consider the 2020-2021 teacher contract tonight. Under the proposed agreement, teachers rated effective or highly effective would get a $1,000 pay raise. Board members will also make an appointment to the Pulaski County Public Library Board and give their permission to sign agreements for alternative services and private school placements.

Pulaski County Commissioners to Get Election, CARES Act Updates Tonight

The Pulaski County Commissioners will get updates on the 2020 election and CARES Act funding tonight. Clerk JoLynn Behny is expected to give updates on plans for November’s General Election, while County Council Member Kathi Thompson will discuss the CARES money.

Repairs Planned for Parking Lot at Pulaski County Public Library, Annex Building

Repairs will soon be coming to the parking lot between the Pulaski County Public Library and the County Annex Building in Winamac. Library Executive Director MacKenzie Ledley told the county commissioners last week that the library has money from its recent bond issuance to crack seal the entire parking lot, including the portion owned by the county.

Pulaski County Council Finalizes Additional Appropriations, Reappoints Library Board Member

The Pulaski County Council finalized more than $70,000 in additional appropriations this week. A large chunk of that was pension and vehicle funding for the Sheriff’s Department, according to Auditor Laura Wheeler.

Pulaski Commissioners Schedule Hearing for Upcoming Deed Sale, Make Appointments

The Pulaski County Commissioners are planning to auction some county-owned land. They’re looking to hold a commissioners deed sale on August 1, but before that, they’ll hold a public hearing to set a minimum price and officially schedule the auction. The public hearing will take place Monday, June 11 at 5:30 p.m. at the Pulaski County Highway Garage, before the commissioners’ joint meeting with the county council.

Safety Upgrades Suggested for Winamac Town Park’s West Entrance

The Winamac Park Board is once again looking at safety upgrades for the west entrance to the Town Park. During a special meeting Monday, resident Brian Ledley told board members it’s difficult to see oncoming traffic while walking west on Main Street. He pointed out that while the street has a sidewalk, it contains steps. That makes it unsuitable for strollers and wheelchairs.
