Preliminary work is underway to develop an industrial park between Medaryville and Francesville in Pulaski County in order to take advantage of the area’s rail access. Economic Development Director Nathan P. Origer says the goal as stated in the 2010 “Pulaski County: Mapping a Path Forward” report is to draw agriculture and technology businesses to the area.

“Ultimately it’ll be an industrial park, but one that we hope will attract tenants, primarily in some way related to agriculture or otherwise complementary to existing business in the county, the county’s major sectors,” said Origer.

Pulaski County Community Development Commission Executive Director Nathan Origer told the Economic Development Board this month that he had met with teachers at both high schools in the county regarding a business plan competition for students. He also said he appeared in classes at both schools as part of Junior Achievement.

The Pulaski County Economic Development Foundation Board earlier this month discussed a number of topics pertaining to business expansion in Pulaski County.

Executive Director Nathan Origer told the board that he had attended the K-IRPC executive commission 2013 budget meeting, and other than a significant decrease to the transportation funds, grant funding would not change much.
