Three local schools saw their letter grades decline in the latest round of School Accountability Grades. Knox Middle School and West Central Elementary School both got a D for the 2017-2018 school year, down from a C the year before. North Judson-San Pierre Elementary dropped from a B to a C.

Paving Portion of Hamlet’s Starke Street Project Wrapping Up, Sidewalk Work to Start Soon
The paving portion of Hamlet’s Starke Street project is essentially complete. Walsh & Kelly rebuilt the road from Plymouth Street to U.S. 30, making drainage improvements in the process. During Wednesday’s town council meeting, Council President Dave Kesvormas said the street looks really good. It was also mentioned that no drainage issues were noticed the last time it rained.
Oregon-Davis School Board Removes eLearning Days from School Calendar
The Oregon-Davis School Corporation is doing away with eLearning days. Superintendent Dr. Don Harman says the decision was made after talking to teachers, parents, and community members. “We firmly believe we want students here at school to get direct instruction, and there’s really no research out there that supports students’ achievement will increase with eLearning days,” he says. Registration Dates Set for Oregon-Davis Students, Officials Issue Vaccination Requirement Reminder
Officials from Oregon-Davis Community School Corporation recently announced that registration for the 2018-2019 school year will be held in July.
Student registration will run from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 25th and Thursday, July 26th. Officials noted that athletic physicals will also be available for students.

The Oregon-Davis School Corporation will offer free meals to all children ages 18 and younger and those who are over the age of 18 who are enrolled in a state-approved educational program for the mentally or physically disabled.

Oregon-Davis School Board to Hold Public Work Session About Fiscal Strategic Planning
The Oregon-Davis School Board is holding a special work session on Monday to deliberate and receive public input about fiscal strategic planning for future operations. Specifically, the meeting will pertain to the general and referendum funds of the Oregon-Davis School Corporation.

Several local schools will be hosting various events tomorrow in honor of Veterans Day.
Eastern Pulaski Elementary School will hold their program at 8:30 a.m. ET while Winamac High School’s event will commence an hour later at 9:30 a.m. ET
