A longtime North Judson business owner and community volunteer is being recognized by the Starke County Community Foundation. Dave Altman was presented with the foundation’s 2020 James R. Hardesty Leadership in Philanthropy Award on Giving Tuesday.

North Judson Kiwanis Club Raising Money for Riley

 
 

A local civic organization is encouraging community members to “give up a little so we can give a lot” to Riley Children’s Hospital. Dave Altman with the North Judson Kiwanis Club says the fundraiser coincides with Lent, although that wasn’t the original intention. The idea is to give up something like a donut, Paczki, can of pop or meal out for 40 days and donate the money you would spend on it to the Kiwanis Club for their Riley Children’s Hospital fundraiser. Kiwanis Club to Ride for Rileys on Aug. 17

Riley Children's Hospital logoThe North Judson Kiwanis Club is once again undertaking a selfless endeavor as members will ride bikes for hours along the trails in North Judson, beginning at the old rest park off of State Road 10 at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17. Dave Altman, chairman of the event, told WKVI that the participants will be rallying up donations from members of the community, either a flat donation or donations per hour or per mile with all proceeds going toward Riley Children’s Hospital.

Knox Kiwanis Baskets to be Delivered Today

Members of the Knox High School National Honor Society and Student Council helped assemble the Christmas baskets

Since the 1970’s, the Knox Kiwanis Club has helped those in need with Christmas food baskets and yesterday, members of the Knox National Honor Society and the Student Council, plus North Judson and Knox Kiwanis members, helped assemble those baskets at Community Services of Starke County.
