Freezing Rain, Flooding Possible Today

 
 

The last week of 2015 is off to a dreary start in the weather department. A freezing rain advisory is in effect across the area until mid-afternoon. This means periods of freezing rain will cause travel difficulties due to light ice accumulations. Motorists are urged to slow down and use caution while driving. Continue reading

National Weather Service Issues Flood Watch

 
 

A flood watch is in effect for the WKVI listening area from this evening through tomorrow morning. According to the National Weather Service, widespread rainfall of 1 to 2 inches is possible tonight into tomorrow. The rainfall onto already wet ground will likely create sufficient runoff for flooding of roadways, small streams and creeks, basements and other low-lying areas. Continue reading

Flash Flood Watch in Effect Through Monday Night

 

 
 

A flash flood watch is in effect for northern Indiana through late tonight. The National Weather Service warns thunderstorms with heavy rainfall are expected to become widespread across the area this afternoon and tonight as a slow moving cold front comes into the area. That, combined with recent heavy rains and high river and stream levels could result in flash flooding. Continue reading

Tornado Confirmed in Weekend Storms

 
 

A tornado has been confirmed to have appeared in Starke County during weekend storms.

Officials from the National Weather service traveled to Starke County Monday afternoon to survey the damage. According to Starke County Emergency Management Agency Director Ted Bombagetti, the category of the tornado has not yet been determined.
