NORTH JUDSON, INDIANA – The Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum is pleased to announce that the National Park Service has added the Chicago & Erie Railroad bridge in Pulaski County, Indiana, to the National Register of Historic Places. This is the first item of national significance submitted by the museum for consideration that has been successfully added to the National Register.

Pleasant View Rest Home Enters National Register of Historic Places

The Pulaski County Commissioners received word this week that the Pleasant View Rest Home is now officially listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Commission President Larry Brady read the letter from the Department of Natural Resources that stated the county home located at 700 W. County Road 60 S.  in Winamac was entered into the register on March 17.

The Pleasant View Rest Home in Pulaski County has received the nomination to be in the National Register of Historic Places.

Letters of support were sought by the Division of State Historic Preservation and Archaeology in October to place the structure on the register. In a public meeting held at the Pulaski County Courthouse in November, Paul Diebold, a member of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources Historical Preservation and Archaeology Committee, said he had never seen so much support for a effort such as this.

Questions Answered about County Home’s Historical Register Nomination

The Pulaski County Commissioners and the Pulaski County Council met in joint session last night that included a presentation by members of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources Historical Preservation and Archaeology. Paul Diebold, who is a member of the committee, answered many questions concerning the historic eligibility of the Pleasant View Rest Home.

Janet Onken from the Pulaski County Historical Society submitted a 31-page application to the DNR Historical Preservation and Archaeology in order to nominate the county home as a historic structure.

Pulaski County Home Considered for National Register of Historic Places

The county home in Pulaski County could be deemed a historic structure.

The commissioners received a letter from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources stating that the county home has been proposed for nomination to the National Register of Historic Places.

The review board members of the Indiana Division of Historic Preservation will consider the nomination during their meeting on Oct. 22 at 1:30 p.m. ET at the Indiana Government Conference Center in Indianapolis in conference rooms one and two. Pulaski County residents are welcome to attend this meeting and to deliver comments, either pro or con, regarding the application.
