Race number eight in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup gets underway Sunday, Nov. 3 at 3 p.m. ET at Texas Motor Speedway and things are stewing at the top of the points standings.

Matt Kenseth and Jimmie Johnson left Martinsville Motor Speedway last weekend sharing the top spot after Kenseth finished fourth and Johnson fought back for a fifth place finish. Johnson had entered the race in the top spot in the championship hunt with Kenseth only a few points behind.

What will the 1.5-mile oval have for these drivers vying for the championship?

NCWTS Crew Chief Fined, Crew Member Suspended after Tussle at Martinsville Speedway

NASCAR has announced penalties from an incident prior to the end of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) race at Martinsville Speedway on Saturday, Oct. 26.

Kevin Harvick and Ty Dillon were battling for position during the 200-lap Kroger 200 near the end of the race when an accident ensued. They continued to beat and bang while attempting to drive off the track. Harvick stopped in Dillon’s pit and a crew member proceeded to hurl a hammer at Harvick’s truck.

As result, NASCAR has penalized Dillon’s No. 3 team for violating 12-1 (Actions detrimental to stock car racing; throwing an object at a competitor’s race truck) and 9-4A (The Crew Chief assumes responsibility for the actions of his/her Driver, Truck Owner and team members).

Crew Chief Paul (Marcus) Richmond has been fined $10,000 and crew member Adam Brown has been suspended indefinitely from NASCAR.

Bob Newton Hoosier Tire Classic a Success at Plymouth Speedway

It was an exciting night of racing Saturday night at Plymouth Speedway for the inaugural Bob Newton Hoosier Tire Classic. Four divisions of racing provided entertainment on the dirt surface including the Sprints on Dirt (SODs)

Series and those cars flew around the track.

Gregg Dalmer won that division with Garrett Saunders winning the Traxxas USAC 600 Restricted Winged Sprints . Randy Shilling won in the Traxxas USAC 600 Winged Sprints race and Frank Marshall picked up the win in the UMP Modified race.

NASCAR driver and analyst Kenny Wallace fell short in the Modified feature as he got caught up in a wreck during a restart on lap four. He was running seventh at the time.

Tony Stewart Cancels Northern Indiana Visit

The question and answer and autograph session with Tony Stewart that was scheduled for this Thursday at the Newton Center in Lakeville has been canceled.

Tony Stewart was injured in a sprint car accident on Monday, Aug. 5 that caused two bones to break in his right leg. Two surgeries to help repair the breakage were conducted last week and he is at home now resting comfortably. Due to the nature of his injury, Stewart-Haas Racing officials have announced that Stewart is out of his Bass Pro Shops/Mobil 1 stock car in NASCAR’s Sprint Cup Series indefinitely.

Tony Stewart Appearance at Newton Center “On Hold”

A question and answer and autograph session featuring three-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Champion Tony Stewart scheduled for Aug. 15 at the Newton Center in Lakeville remains on hold.

Officials say he has undergone surgery after a sprint car accident at Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, Iowa on Monday night. He suffered two broken bones in his right leg as a result of the accident where he struck a spun lapped car that sent his sprint car tumbling. Continue reading

NASCAR Drivers Stir up Dirt at Plymouth Speedway

The regular season drivers left the NASCAR drivers in the dust in the Modified feature at Plymouth Speedway Saturday night.

Modifieds point leader, Frank Marshall, found the start/finish line first while Adam Williams and Tommy Beezley II rounded out the top three on top of the podium.

NASCAR drivers Kenny Wallace, David Reutimann, Justin Allgaier, David Stremme and Ken Schrader put on a good show and the fans were excited to see them race. Allgaier experienced equipment issues toward the end of the 30-lap feature as a result of a bounce off the front straightaway wall earlier in the race. Schrader missed the feature due to mechanical issues while running hot laps and Wallace, Stremme and Reutimann finished fifth, sixth and seventh.

Exciting Night of Racing Planned at Plymouth Speedway

 
 

A big modified race featuring five NASCAR stars is taking place on the dirt track at Plymouth Speedway this Saturday.

A NASCAR analyst for the SPEED Channel, Bob Dillner, says it’s going to be quite the show.

“It’s going to wild this weekend at Plymouth Speedway,” said Dillner. “Anyone listening to this show here today, I would get out to Plymouth this weekend because I think you’re going to have the best racing of the weekend with those modifieds on the dirt! I’m just really excited for everyone at Plymouth to have the success that they’re having now because that’s really good for racing in general.”

Mod Squad Night This Saturday at Plymouth Speedway

 
 

It’s a chance to see five NASCAR drivers race at a local venue. They won’t be driving stock cars, but they will be running their modified machines in the dirt at Plymouth Speedway.

Ken Schrader, David Stremme, Justin Allgaier, David Reutimann and Kenny Wallace will be putting their cars to the test against the regular modified racers at Plymouth Speedway. The winner of the 30-lap modified feature will win $1,000.

Battle Of The Bullring Rained Out, Stewart Says He’ll Try Again

Saturday night’s Battle of the Bullring, featuring NASCAR Champion Tony Stewart, was actually a battle with Mother Nature – and Mother Nature won.

Rain canceled the Sprints on Dirt race on the dirt track at the Plymouth Speedway. The much-anticipated race has been rescheduled for August 18, but Irish Saunders of the Plymouth Speedway said it was an interesting day, not only because of the rain situation at the Plymouth Speedway, but for Tony Stewart as well. Tony Stewart Visits with Fans in Lakeville

NASCAR driver, Tony Stewart, was in Lakeville yesterday to speak to fans and sign autographs at the Newton Center. The event was sponsored by Hoosier Racing Tire and Stewart appreciates that the Newton family has always stood by him throughout his career. Tony talked about what it’s like to be both an owner and a driver:

“It’s just a lot of time, I mean it’s a ton of time, a ton of pressure, especially trying to do both roles as a driver and an owner,” said Stewart. “It makes you appreciate guys like Jack Rausch, Rick Hendrick, Joe Gibbs, Richard Childress, and Michael Waltrip and all these guys who have multi-car teams. It’s definitely not an easy business by any means.”
