The Marshall County Housing Authority in Plymouth will soon be closing its doors effective Sept. 13 after funding cuts left them crippled and stuck with a $17,000 deficit. The Marshall County Housing Authority, which provides Section 8 assistance including Housing Choice Vouchers, helping families to pay rent on privately owned homes, had attempted to join forces with the Kosciusko/Goshen Housing Authority or Rochester Housing Authority but the plans fell through.
Marshall County Housing Authority Facing Funding Crisis
The Marshall County Housing Authority is facing a crisis and it will come down to a meeting today to see if it will stay in existence.
Donna Vela explained that the sequester has hit her administration funding hard – so hard that if they don’t form a consortium with the Warsaw/Goshen Housing Authority, all vouchers will be available statewide to those who need them and not used specifically for Marshall County residents.
