Pulaski County once again has a decision to make, when it comes to IT services. Back in July, the county commissioners disbanded the county’s IT department, and later agreed to contract IT services out to DeGroot Technology. Now, DeGroot has notified officials that it will stop providing services to the county in January.

Voters head to the polls today, but several Starke and Pulaski County residents have already cast their ballots. The Starke County Clerk’s Office reports that 1,795 voted early in-person. Another 232 Starke County residents voted by mail, while 35 voted by travel board.
Pulaski County Election Board members were informed about what to expect on Election Day when they met last week.
Election board members Patty Sullivan and Jessye Gilley were instructed to be at the Pulaski County Court House at 5 a.m. on Tuesday. They were told they will be assisting with various tasks, working as support staff. Continue reading

Pulaski County Clerk Christi Hoffa would get a pay raise for her duties with the county election board, under its 2019 budget proposal. Hoffa reviewed the proposal with the rest of the election board Monday. She explained that much of the budget work was done before board members Jon Frain and Laura Bailey were replaced by Patty Sullivan and Jessye Gilley.

The Pulaski County Commissioners have agreed that the county’s rules on campaign signs should be repealed. They voted Monday to remove the section of the county’s Unified Development Ordinance that deals with “special signs.”

Rules on campaign signs have the Pulaski County Election Board calling for changes to the county’s Unified Development Ordinance. Board members voted unanimously Tuesday to send a memorandum to various county officials, calling for the repeal of the section on “special signs.”
Pulaski County officials are trying to make it easier for early voters to park at the polling site. The county commissioners voted Monday to reserve two parking spaces for voters, during in-person absentee voting hours at the Pulaski County Justice Center.
A bridge inspection contract will be up for discussion during this morning’s Pulaski County Commissioners meeting. Highway Superintendent Terry Ruff and Jeff Larrison with United Consulting are expected to explain the contract proposal for the 2018-through-2021 bridge inspection cycle.
Pulaski County officials are finalizing arrangements for IT services during this year’s elections. IT Consultant Willie DeGroot and the county’s in-house IT director, Matt Voltz, are both expected to help out during the May primary and November general elections.
Campaign sign regulations are causing confusion for Pulaski County candidates. The county’s updated Unified Development Ordinance that took effect at the beginning of the year appears to include some rules for campaign signs, but no one’s entirely sure, according to election board member Laura Bailey. “We have had, in the last 10 days, multiple contacts from concerned citizens, which then went out to various candidates, had all sorts of panic with the candidates because of the Unified Development Ordinance that you guys passed on December 18,” she told the county commissioners Monday. The Town of Medaryville has a new council member. President Derrick Stalbaum resigned recently due to his relocation outside the town limits.
