A two-vehicle head-on collision last evening in Plymouth claimed the life of a LaPaz man. The wreck occurred around 5:30 on Michigan Road just north of Higbee Corner. Gary L. Richard, 54, of LaPaz was pronounced dead, and two other people were taken to Memorial Hospital in South Bend. Their names have not been released, and the crash remains under investigation.
Marshall County Police are investigating the second armed robbery incident at the Bottle Stop Liquor Store in LaPaz in a month.
On Friday, February 17th, the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department received a call of a robbery at the Bottle Stop Liquor Store in LaPaz. The clerk told police that a male subject walked into the liquor store, brandished a knife and demanded money. The suspect was then chased out of the store by a clerk and left on foot. No money was taken during the incident.
Larry Cleveland, 69, of Plymouth, Indiana, passed away Monday, January 30th, 2012. Funeral services will be Thursday, February 2nd, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. ET at the Community Church of God in LaPaz, Indiana. Visitation is Thursday from 11:00 a.m. ET until the time of services at the church. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Van Gilder Funeral Home in Plymouth.
An armed robbery incident is being investigated by the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department.
Police were called to the Bottle Stop Liquor Store on Michigan Street in Lapaz on Monday night where the employee said a man brandished a knife and demanded cash from the register. The employee was cut on a finger with the suspect’s knife. Police arrived on the scene within one minute, but the suspect had fled the scene and was not immediately found. The man had run out the front door toward the alley. An undisclosed amount of cash was stolen from the cash register.
