LaPorte Man Arrested on Child Endangerment Charge

A LaPorte man police say was too intoxicated to stand when he showed up at his son’s Pop Warner Football practice faces felony child neglect charges. Police were called to Kesling Middle School in LaPorte Thursday evening and found Lance Dieken, 39, staggering around the field. The arrest report notes he smelled of alcohol and appeared intoxicated. A 7-year-old boy was waiting in Dieken’s pickup truck for him to get his 6-year-old son from practice. Dieken reportedly told the police he was going to drive the kids home, but they told him he wouldn’t be allowed to drive due to his impaired state. The childrens’ mother was called and came to pick them up. Dieken also faces a misdemeanor public intoxication charge.
