The Eastern Pulaski School Board has removed Kyle Johnson from his coaching positions. During a two-minute special session Thursday, board members narrowly voted to cancel Johnson’s athletic contracts.
The employment of Winamac High School Basketball Coach Kyle Johnson is expected to be discussed when the Eastern Pulaski School Board meets in special session tonight. The board has been investigating Johnson, following an alleged altercation with Pulaski County Police last month.
The Winamac High School library was filled with community members attending last night’s Eastern Pulaski Community School Board meeting. Individuals of various walks of life came to defend a faculty member who is currently the subject of an ongoing board investigation. An area high school basketball coach was arrested on misdemeanor charges Tuesday night.
According to the incident report filed by the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department, police stopped a car driven by a juvenile near the intersection of Monticello Street and Adams Street in Winamac around 9:41 p.m. ET. Police reportedly determined that the vehicle’s registration was expired. Officers called the towing company to tow the car from the scene.
