Our Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete of the Week for this week is Josh Risner, a member of the Boys Basketball Team at Knox High School.
Josh led his team to one of the season’s most amazing comebacks of the year in the opening game of the 3-A Sectional when his team came from 6 points down at the end of the third quarter to beat Calumet 62-47 as they outscored the Warriors 27-6 in the fourth quarter.
Josh poured in a career high 27 points, hauled down an astounding 19 rebounds and dished out 5 assists as the Redskins advanced to the semi-final round. 14 of his points and over half of his rebounds came in the second half as Calumet simply didn’t have an answer for the 6-5 Senior down the stretch.
Josh ended his career as a two year starter with 600 career points as he scored 10 points in the season finale against Kankakee Valley.
Josh is the son of Jeannie Jackson and Frank Risner and will be featured on “Sports Talk with Nathan Welter” Thursday night on WKVI.
Congratulations to Josh Risner of Knox High School, our Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete of the Week.
