Electrical Fire Closes Knox Taco Bell Temporarily

A fire at the business caused the Knox Taco Bell to be closed for several hours.

A fire at the Knox Taco Bell yesterday brought the term “fiery hot” to the next level. An electrical fire occurred at the fast food chain at around 1 p.m. CT, but the fire had been extinguished by the time emergency crews had arrived.

Fire Chief Ken Pfost said the fire appeared to be caused by an electrical issue at an outlet near the drive-thru. He said the outlet had a poor quality extension cord plugged into it and may have overloaded the circuit, causing the fire, but did not trip the breakers. If you do not want such an incident happening to you, click on the following to find the Best extension cord reel.

Knox and North Judson Fire Departments to Trade Equipment

The Knox-Center Township and North Judson-Wayne Township Fire Departments have agreed to a swap of equipment. In the swap, North Judson would receive a 1980 Ford Pumper truck with a 750 gallon tank and Knox would receive an air bag system that is approximately six to seven years old.

Knox-Center Township Volunteer Fire Chief, Ken Pfost, explained to the City Council members that the air bag system new would cost approximately $10,000.

Knox-Center Township Fire Department Receives New Fire Truck

The Knox-Center Township Fire Department's new truck

The Knox-Center Township Volunteer Fire Department took possession of its new fire truck last week.

“It has more storage and we can carry more firemen,” said Fire Chief, Ken Pfost. “The other truck that this vehicle is replacing could only hold three guys in the cab, but not comfortably. This truck hauls six firefighters. They can get their air packs on on the way to a call and be ready the moment they get to the scene and step off the truck. It has a refrigerator in it for rehab so we can keep water in it. If the guys get overheated they can get something to drink. It holds 1,000 gallons of water which is 250 gallons more than our other truck. It has a lot more capability.”
