One-Time Energy Assistance Available to Struggling Citizens

$Applications for the Energy Assistance Program can still be submitted for a one-time benefit on electric and heating bills. North Central Community Action Agencies, Pulaski County Human Services, and Community Services of Starke County began taking applications for LaPorte, Pulaski and Starke residents in November. Applications will continue to be accepted until all funds are obligated.

Applications for Energy Assistance to Be Accepted Monday

 
 
LaPorte, Pulaski and Starke County residents can being applying for the Energy Assistance Program on Monday, Nov. 4.

Pre-application packets were mailed to elderly, disabled and at-risk households in September that were approved in last year’s program. Packets are to be returned with the necessary paperwork to complete the application process. If you are scheduled for disconnection or services have already been disconnected, call and schedule an appointment for assistance.

Heating Bill Help Available to Pulaski County Residents

Pulaski County Human Services, Inc. has received additional funds to help low income Pulaski County families pay home heating bills. Applications are still being accepted for this season’s Energy Assistance Program.

Those who have already received assistance through this program from November to today will not be able to reapply. Applications will only be accepted for those that will be applying for the first time this heating season.

Pulaski County United Fund Helps Residents with Utility Deposit Fees

The Pulaski County United Fund has helped 12 Pulaski County residents with the 1010 Grant. The two-year grant was awarded to Pulaski County from the Indiana Association of United Ways/Funds.

These residents, who qualified for the Energy Assistance Program by demonstrating financial need, received support from the grant to cover utility deposit fees. Deposits for water, electric and gas service were made to the Town of Winamac, Kankakee Valley REMC, Fulton County REMC, and NIPSCO on behalf of the recipient.
