Keselowski, Stewart Penalized

Two NASCAR drivers have been penalized with heavy fines and probation in post-race actions after the conclusion of the race Saturday night at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Behavioral penalties were issued where Brad Keselowski was fined $50,000 and placed on NASCAR probation until Nov. 12. Tony Stewart was fined $25,000 and placed on NASCAR probation for the same duration.

According to NASCAR officials, the pair violated two sections in the 2014 rule book: actions detrimental to stock car racing and a behavioral penalty that involved post-race incidents.

It wasn’t until Saturday night’s Bank of America 500 that I realized how much this new Chase format may be getting to some drivers and teams.

The tempers boiled between Brad Keselowski and Denny Hamlin and Brad Keselowski and Matt Kenseth after Kevin Harvick won the race and moved onto the eliminator round of the Chase.

With 63 laps to go on a restart lap, Matt Kenseth had a big run and Keselowski snuck up in front of him which caused Kenseth to smack into the wall. That incident caused Kenseth to drop from fourth to 18th and deeper in the field.

He battled back from outside the top ten twice on the day to capture the first win in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup in the MyAFibStory.com 400 at Chicagoland Speedway. This was his second consecutive win and fifth win on the season.

Keselowski now moves into the second round in the Chase grid called the contender round. He and 11 others will make the move after the race at Dover International Speedway two weeks from now.

Here’s how the rest of the Chase drivers did in the race:

From the green flag to the checkered flag, Brad Keselowski and the No. 2 team had the car to beat at Richmond International Raceway. The car was fast on the track and the pit crew members got Keselowski out of pit road first on every pit stop. To say it was a dominant performance by the Team Penske group may be an understatement.

Keselowski, who had the pole for the race, led 383 out of the available 400 laps in the race to win his fourth race this season. He is the first driver to win that many races this season and has gained the top seed entering NASCAR’s post season next week in Chicago. He captured the 400th win for owner Roger Penske.

NASCAR has penalized three teams in the Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) after an inspection found that No. 00, No. 19 and No. 30 trucks failed to meet post-race height requirements after the Bristol Motor Speedway race on Aug. 21.

The crew chiefs, Joel Shear, Doug Randolph and Doug George for drivers Cole Custer, Brad Keselowski and Ron Hornaday, Jr., were all fined $5,000. In addition, each team lost 10 championship driver and owner points.

It was about Team Penske’s Brad Keselowski all Sunday long. When he wasn’t leading, he was battling for the lead and took care of the field after restarting outside the top ten on several occasions after pit stops. He controlled the Camping World RV Sales 301 Sunday afternoon and took home the trophy – and the lobster – at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

He also won the Nationwide Series race, the Sta-Green 200, Saturday afternoon.

Brad Keselowski had a car that was unbeatable. It started out of the gate on the pole and finished in the winning position Saturday night in the Quaker State 400 at Kentucky Speedway in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. He led 199 out of the 267 laps in the race.

As he celebrated in Victory Lane with his crew, a champagne bottle exploded in Keselowski’s right hand which required a trip to the infield care center. That wasn’t about to cork his night. He returned to Victory Lane four stitches later to continue the celebration.

Dale Earnhardt, Jr. gambled on fuel but Lady Luck wasn’t on his side. NASCAR’s most popular driver’s race car ran out of gas on the last lap of the Kobalt 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. It was Brad Keselowski who put the money on the table and came away with the win.

Keselowski won both the Nationwide and Sprint Cup races this weekend in Las Vegas. Keselowski was the first driver to sweep both races at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in the same weekend since Jeff Burtondid it in 2000. Burton and Keselowski are the only two drivers to accomplish the feat.

As if Brad Keselowski didn’t have a big enough challenge keeping Kyle Busch out of his rearview mirror, the battery in his car was losing a winning battle. Keselowski had shut off everything he could to save what battery power he had and whatever he did it worked. Keselowski had enough power drive his Discount Tire Ford for Team Penske to Victory Lane in the NASCAR Nationwide Series in the Boyd Gaming 300 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway Saturday afternoon.

Dillon Crowned Champion, Keselowski Wins Final Nationwide Race at Homestead

It was quite a championship battle between Austin Dillon and Sam Hornish, Jr. in the NASCAR Nationwide Series 200-lap Ford Ecoboost 300 Saturday night at Homestead-Miami Speedway. It was also the closest title match in all of NASCAR’s top series.

Hornish, Jr., who drove the No. 12 Alliance Truck Parts Ford for Penske Racing, started on the pole and led the first part of the race and became the points leader and held that points lead for nearly the entire race. Dillon and Hornish switched places in the points after a late race caution (and rather lengthy caution) where Dillon would stay ahead of Hornish to claim the championship.

Brad Keselowski Wins NNS Race at Texas

When Brad Keselowski talked to reporters before the NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Texas Motor Speedway, he said he wanted a cowboy hat. Now he has one after he emerged as the winner in the 200-lap O’Reilley Auto Parts Challenge at TMS.

The Penske Racing Discount Tire Ford was strong throughout the race, but when the first caution came out on lap 70 and yellow flag pit stops occurred Keselowski fell back and Joe Gibbs Racing’s Denny Hamlin took over the lead.
