Tyler Roth – WKVI Athlete of the Week

This award as given In memory of Tyler Roth, a 2001 graduate of Winamac High School, who died in a tragic car accident on June 1, 2001, just one week after his high school graduation

Tyler was an accomplished athlete, starting in three sports and winning 10 Varsity Letters.

He was All-Midwest Conference in baseball his Junior year and All-MWC in football for three years. He was named All-State in football by the Indiana Football Coaches Association in both his Junior and Senior years, and was named posthumously to the 2001 North All-Star football team. He was bound for Earlham College to play football after high school.

More than an athlete, Tyler was a quiet leader and an Honor Roll Student. He served on Student Council for three years and as Student Body President his Senior year. Tyler also participated in drama for four years, winning an “Oscar” his Senior year.

Away from school, Tyler was active in 4-H, garnering numerous championships, concentrating on his beef projects. Tyler was a lifelong member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, where he served as an alter boy for ten years.

The legacy of Tyler Roth is one of leadership, hardwork, outstanding citizenship, and superior athletic performance. The spirit of Tyler Roth lives on in the recipients of the Tyler Roth / WKVI Athlete of the Week Award
