Police Reports

From the North Judson Police Department:

Incidents:
04/07/11 North Judson Police investigated a report of the theft of utilities in the 500 Block of Laurel Street. The North Judson Water Department reported a meter, which was turned off, had been turned back on and had water consumed. An investigation was conducted and a report with pending charges was provided to the Starke County Prosecutor’s Office for review.

04/06/11 Officer Dennis Fornelli located three juvenile males on the grounds of the Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum, in and around the train cars. After a short time, the three were picked up and transported to their respective parents. The following morning, the Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum reported to Officer Joe Budner that several train cars, the building, and equipment had been vandalized and damaged. Many windows were broken out as well. Police returned and conducted interviews with the three juveniles and learned they had done the damage. A complete investigative report was furnished to the Starke County Probation Department and the Prosecutor’s Office requesting charges and restitution from the juveniles.

On another unrelated incident at the museum, Police were again called on Friday afternoon in reference to 2 juvenile males throwing rocks and beating on a train car with a board. North Judson Police Chief Doug Vessely and Officer Fornelli detained the two and had their parents come and pick them up. This report was also furnished to the Probation Department for review. Remember the Museum grounds and all Railroad properties are closed to off road vehicle traffic and the buildings and train cars are not to be entered, tampered, or damaged at any time.

04/08/11 Scott E. Cambern, 19, 5267 S. Holiday Street, North Judson, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Possession of Marijuana under 30 grams.

04/06/11 Jonathan Cortez, 18, 4230 South 250 West, North Judson, IN arrested on a preliminary charge of Operator Never Licensed.

Pulaski County Sheriff's Department

Incidents:
04/09/11 A Winamac resident reported that someone tampered with the back door of his residence. The lock was broken and the key won’t work. Nothing was reported stolen.

04/09/11 A Cass Township resident reported the theft of wiring off an irrigation system.

04/08/11 Four juveniles were kicked out of the Winamac Town Park for the remainder of the year after residents complained that they were fighting by the 4-H building. They had been warned before this incident and were given a no trespassing warning in the Park.

04/08/11 A Pulaski resident reported that someone came onto his property and stole his boat and part of his boat trailer.

04/07/11 A Beardstown resident reported that he was watching a pile of leaves burning and a person came flying up on him in a pickup truck. The person hit the neighbor’s fence and was sitting sideways in the road. After an investigation, the suspect was intoxicated and was tazed due to his aggressive nature. He was taken home for the evening.

04/06/11 A Cass Township resident reported $700 worth of copper wire removed from a trailer and several trees cut on the property.

04/06/11 A Bruce Lake resident called to report a stolen license plate.

04/04/11 A Pulaski resident called to report that his ex-girlfriend stole his car.

04/04/11 A caller advised that a telephone pedestal cover was found off the pedestal with bullet holes in it. The rest of the box was hanging by the wires. Another pedestal was located and it was also damaged.

04/05/11 Thomas J. Knudson, 60, 6519 E. 750 N., Culver, IN, arrested on preliminary charges of Possession of Marijuana and Domestic Battery. Discharged 04/06/11.

04/11/11 Greg May reported that someone stole a well pump from the well at 0995 S. and 250 E. in Knox.

04/10/11 Connie Clark requested the fire department for a woods fire behind her residence on 600 North.

04/10/11 Heather Clemons reported her IPhone stolen.

04/10/11 Chuck Mueller requested to speak to an officer. He believes that someone tried to break into his shop. Some unknown subject(s) messed with his fuel tank.

04/10/11 Shannon Kietzman advised of a fire in the 4800 block of E. 250 S. in Knox.

04/10/11 Carol Whitley reported her purse stolen from the Bass Lake Pub.

04/09/11 Shelby Clemons reported that someone stole his two pugs from his residence. He called the Humane Society and they were there.

04/08/11 Katherine Gergley called police to report that a male subject in an older pickup truck broke into her shed and came out with her husband’s log splitter on the back of the trailer. She passed him coming from the residence. After further investigation, the reporting officer discovered that the log splitter had fallen off the trailer and skidded down the road.

04/08/11 Garry McIntosh reported that a man was jumping out into the roadway in front of vehicles. Police gave the subject a ride home.

04/08/11 Holly Kell reported the theft of a laptop.

04/07/11 A brush fire was called in on Toto Road and 650 W. in North Judson.

04/06/11 A caller reported vehicles in and around an abandoned house across from the access point at English Lake. The caller said that the unknown subjects have guns as he can hear shooting.

04/06/11 Sherry McDaniel of Knox reported that three windows were broken out of her car including the sunroof.

04/06/11 James Hough reported the theft of his German Shepherd puppy.

04/06/11 An employees at Knoll Brothers reported a semi tipped over on US 30. The driver was pulling out of the parking lot of the facility when it tipped.

Arrests:
04/10/11 Victoria Farkas, 26, of Walkerton, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated. The Walkerton Police Department advised that she was driving her car and hit a pole in the 8900 block of N. State Road 23 in Walkerton.

Incidents:
04/13/11 Jennie Carter from Drug and Tobacco Free Starke County reported to police that 500 yellow stadium caps, 12 boxes of pencils and 500 key chains were stolen from her office.

04/12/11 Andrea Donnelly reported that two men in their 30s approached her at her home and questioned her about a trailer parked out in front of her home. She them that it was not for sale but she’d write down their names in case she does decide to sell it. As she was walking into her home to get a pen, the two men attacked her. They picked up a knife, held it to her throat, and asked if she had any money or pills. She said she had some money in her pocket but not any pills. She gave them what was in her pocket and they locked her in her bathroom. After she called police, she noticed that they stole a cell phone and some pills that she had.

04/09/11 Officers were called to 300 E. and 100 S. in reference to a traffic accident. The reporting officer observed a 2009 black passenger car and it appeared that it traveled through a yard on the northwest corner of the intersection before traveling west on 100 South where it crashed into a tree. The car belongs to Jennifer Miller and she told police that she had been at the bar and she left the keys with her boyfriend Anthony Davis. She left the bar on foot with a friend. Anthony said he had left the bar and put the keys in the vehicle for Jennifer in the event she returned. The vehicle crash occurred a half mile west of their residence.

04/12/11 Frankln Harrodon, 20, 802 E. New York St., Knox, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Resisting Law Enforcement.

04/11/11 Paul Higdon was arrested on preliminary charges of Possession of Methamphetamine and Serious Violent Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
Traci Jacobs was arrested on preliminary charges of Possession of Methamphetamine and Serious Violent Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

04/08/11 Katelin Allen, 23, 103 S. Main St., Knox, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Trespass.

04/06/11 Curtis Bradley, 24, 322 W. Spruce Dr., Knox, IN, arrested on preliminary charges of Neglect of a Dependent (x2), Resisting Law Enforcement, Disorderly Conduct, Reckless Driving and Public Intoxication.

Incidents:
4/12/2011 Officers responded to 504 N Starke St for juveniles shooting BB guns.

4/12/2011 Officers responded to 504 N Starke St for a harassment case involving two Juveniles at the bus stop.

4/11/2011 Officers responded to the Hamlet apartments for a loud noise complaint.

4/9/2011 Officers responded to 504 N Starke St. for a verbal argument between juveniles.

Arrests:
4/8/2011 Officers were called to 301 Pearl St for a 911 caller who advised her son had battered her. Officers arrived and spoke with Phyllis Summery. Summey said that her son, Corbin Gayheart, had hit her in the chest after an argument over money. Corbin was located in the home, arrested and transported to the Starke County Jail. He has a preliminary charge of Battery Causing Injury.

4/5/2011 20-year-old Jaime Sanchez of Mexico was arrested for Driving Without a License. Upon further investigation, Sanchez was found to be an illegal immigrant. Sanchez posted bond on the charges and was deported back to Mexico.

From the Plymouth Police Department:

Arrests:
04/14/11 The Plymouth Police Department was called to the Prairie View Group Home after receiving a complaint that a court committed subject escaped from the facility. Officers located 18-year-old Shayne Hammer of Plymouth when officers confronted him, he resisted. Officers had to use force and a taser to gain control before he was transported to the Marshall County jail on preliminary charges of Escape and Resisting Law Enforcement.

04/13/11 A Knox man was arrested after leaving Wal-Mart with unpaid merchandise. The Plymouth Police Department was called to Wal-Mart after Jacob Scott, 24, of Knox stole merchandise and fled the store. Scott lead police on a foot pursuit through the Pioneer Seed wetlands area where he was eventually apprehended. He was taken to the Marshall County Jail on preliminary charges of Theft and Resisting Law Enforcement.
