Holloway Motel

The Holloway Motel has been evacuated and condemned after a huge drug bust Friday. In the course of serving a warrant on a person at the motel, Starke County Police detected an odor commonly related to the manufacturing of methamphetamine.

Cheryl Paschen

Kimberly Hurley

After obtaining a search warrant, the county police, along with units from Hamlet and the Indiana State Police, discovered an illegal methamphetamine lab. Arrested were Mathew Schoff, Cheryl Paschen and Kimberly Hurley.  They face preliminary charges ranging from Manufacturing Methamphetamine to Possession of Paraphernalia.

Freeman Spelts

The police then executed a second search warrant on the manager’s office and living quarters and found precursors commonly used to manufacture methamphetamine, plus marijuana and several other controlled substances. The manager, Freeman Spelts, was arrested as was Tracey Gaideski.  Spelts and Gaideski have preliminary charges ranging from Neglect of a Dependent and Possession of Methamphetamine to Possession of Precursors and Paraphernalia.

In searching the rest of the motel, the officers found another meth lab. In the rear of the motel, they found a pick-up with two mobile meth labs. Arrested was the truck owner, Timothy Clark, who has a preliminary charge of Manufacturing Methamphetamine.

Child Protective Services took an eight year old male child into protective custody.

Starke County Health Officer, Dr. Theresa Alexander, has condemned the motel until further notice.

So sad, I remember when this hotel was built. This is what happens when family businesses get sold to . . .

The saddest part of all this is.. The 8 yr old child that had to live around that, now the child will be put in the care of someone she doesn’t know. The should throw the key away on these type of people. Leopards never change their spots!!

This is nasty. I would be ashamed.. My father got busted and he is the happiest man ever. because he knows that meth is addicting and he said he will never touch that nasty stuff again. He is now doing 15 years all together. But i know for a fact if some people got the punishment my father is getting then i know they would stop.. And the 8 year old child thats HORRIBLE. my father never even had it within 20 miles of his children.. well good luck and i know how it is..

yes, it seems that the cops here in starke county want the little people instead of the ones they need to get. why let people making meth out over and over just so they can set up people who are not doing half that. the system here is not fair, i have personally seen the same people get to go to re-hab when in trouble and a person who goes to jail their first time with a drug problem they wont let go, but one person i have seen whos been in jail most of their adult life, and thats who they allow to go to re-hab again. if it didnt work when they let them go the first few times why do they allow it again????? starke county

starke county makes their own rules, like a girl who went to jail on meth charges and was on probation, for one thing on probation you cant bond out for 15 days, but she did, then got arrested a week later with same kind of charges and got out again without a 15 day hold, do they pick and choose who has to obide by the rules, i think they do!!! something needs to be done, everyone should be created equal!! maybe we should all learn to be a snitch for them so we get created equal, whats the world coming to???

i understand what everyones saying, i have 2 boys in jail for doing less than what their letting others out for, dropping lots of charges for people with way worst crimes and plenty more. even letting them out without a bond, my god is the system work this way. if you tell the truth you get burned, if your willing to snitch then they drop all charges, which are alot harsher charges, my son told the truth and they are throwing the book at him, because of a local cop who was shot at, during a bass lake incident, “isnt that part of the job”? what about chicago cops, its the job they chose. can they hold that incident against others, i dont think so, once in a life time that happens to cops here. maybe people better pick their professions more carefully.

what about people who get caught with a fire arm, and meth, isn’t that federal? well i have a family member who had no meth and no firearm when pulled over and the atf came n got him, and charging him with a felon in poss., of a firearm, and for poss., of a stolen firearm, when the person who owned the gun bought it off a known thief and told them who he bought it from, then that guy was in jail and wasnt even questioned about it, u all know him and that he has snitched for years. i’m going as far as i can to get this county to treat everyone with the same crime equal, we need to stick together. starke county has to be stopped, im gonna give it my best shot. though it’s most likely not going to change anything

cheryl has a kind heart and is a wonderful person – when she’s clean. that is the sick power of addiction that pulls a person back in.

We stayed there and we were out numbered by the flies in the room. We had to go out and buy fly paper and a fly swatter because the people who ran the place didn’t give a hoot about us vs. the flies. Now we can see why, they were too busy (according to news reports), running a Meth lab on the premises. Now we worry about our own health from the chemicals as I have been coughing since our stay there last year. Avoid this place at all costs — the health department condemned it, so I doubt if it will reopen any time soon.
