A new superintendent has been chosen at Eastern Pulaski Schools and he’s no stranger to the corporation. Dan Foster held an administration position at the corporation as he explains his history in education.

“I was a high school band director at Fountain Central in Veedersburg, Indiana and then I came to Eastern Pulaski as the assistant principal at the high school in 2004,” said Foster. I spent three years here and then went to Caston High School for one year as the Junior/Senior high principal and I’ve been there for the last five years as superintendent. I did my undergraduate at Ashland University in Ashland, Ohio, my Master’s in music at Miami University in Ohio and all of my administrative work was at Indiana State.”

The Eastern Pulaski School Board unanimously approved Dan Foster as the new superintendent in a special meeting on Tuesday afternoon. Fifteen applicants applied for the superintendent’s position.

Foster told the board that he’s happy to be back at Eastern Pulaski schools and believes if things go well he will retire at the corporation.

Foster’s expectations are to keep up the high student achievement and graduation rate.

“We’re going to have a lot of meetings with a lot of different people in the next several weeks to try and get some opinions and some information on what the desires and the thoughts are of the board and the administrators and even some of the teachers and the community to see what is the direction that we would like to take with Eastern Pulaski. Certainly, we want to keep those high expectations.”

Foster will be in the superintendent’s office first thing Monday morning.

The lengthy search for a new superintendent began in March after Dr. Robert Klitzman announced his retirement. Klitzman will be leaving the corporation as the superintendent on Friday after 26 years at the corporation.
