Three Arrested on Drug Charges, Questionable Device Found

Three Marshall County residents were arrested Tuesday after a traffic stop in which a device was found that appeared to be explosive in nature.

Officers from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department pulled over a vehicle in the 16000 block of 14B Road and reportedly found evidence of manufacturing methamphetamine.

While officers were cleaning up the hazardous materials, a possible explosive device was located inside the vehicle. The South Bend Police Department Bomb Squad was called to the scene to identify the device. Officers determined that the device was not an actual explosive device, however it was manufactured to look like an explosive device.

The three occupants inside the vehicle were arrested after the day-long investigation. 35-year-old Cassidy L. Quimby of Argos, 30-year-old Johanna Elder of Plymouth and 27-year-old Gary R. Beatty of Plymouth were arrested on preliminary charges of Manufacturing Methamphetamine and Possession of Methamphetamine.
