Governor Eric Holcomb and INDOT Commissioner Mike Smith awarded $107.8 million in Community Crossings Matching Grant funds to 224 Indiana cities, towns and counties Tuesday morning.
The Community Crossings initiative has provided more than $1 billion in state matching funds for local construction projects since 2016. To qualify for funding, local governments must provide local matching funds of 50 percent for larger communities or 25 percent for smaller communities and have an asset management plan for maintaining existing roads and bridges.
Starke County was awarded $749,478 to repave Range Road from 300 South to 250 North.
The Town of Culver was awarded $177,735.77. The projects awarded funding include Jefferson Street from State Road 17 to Slate Street, Baker Street from Wall Street to Lakeshore Drive, Wall Street from Baker Street to Academy Road, Pearl Street from State Street to Forest Place, Lewis Street from Plymouth Street to Lakeview Street, Slate Street from Madison Street to Mill Street, and South Street from Wabash to West Shore.
The Town of Winamac was awarded $125,400 which will be for paving projects on Burson Street from Washington to Erie, East Street from Madison to Narrow, the alley at 530 Washington Street to County Road 50 W., and Market Street from 16th to 17th.
The Town of Medaryville was awarded $149,515.67.
The next call for projects will open in July 2022.
