Commissioners Approve 4-Way Stop at Sportyz Intersection

4-way_stop_signTravelers in the Bass Lake area will soon have a new four-way stop to regulate traffic. The Starke County Commissioners last week approved the addition of more stop signs on County Roads 210 and 675 East to better control traffic in the heavily congested area. Extensive signage will be placed at the approaches to warn motorists of the new traffic pattern.

Highway Superintendent Rik Ritzler told the commissioners that is a very busy intersection during the summer months with traffic from both Sporty’z and Bielava Summer Resort. The road curves in that area, and it is difficult for motorists to see. The commissioners agreed a four-way stop is needed to make the intersection safer. Ritzler advised WKVI News via email that he’s planning to put the signs up on Monday, July 28 in order to avoid the confusion of introducing a new traffic pattern during the busy Bass Lake Festival.
