STUDENTS RAISING MONEY TO FIGHT CANCER
(Hamlet, IN)-Oregon-Davis students are joining in the fight
against cancer by raising money and walking during school on
Friday, May 30, 2014 beginning at 7:30 a.m.
Oregon-Davis students are holding a “Mini-Relay,” which is an
abbreviated version of the American Cancer Society’s national
signature activity, Relay For Life.
Students will be collecting money donations and will walk
during the event as they learn about ways to stay healthy to help
prevent cancer for one class period.
“It’s a great opportunity for the students to make an impact in
the community as well as become knowledgeable about cancer.
The students feel good about themselves knowing they are doing
something to help others,” says school nurse, Tricia Huitt.
The “Mini-Relay” will be an all-day event complete with music
provided by Dancing Shadows, games, class banners and
luminaria bags decorated by the students in memory or honor of
family and friends with cancer, and information by the school
nurse and students will be presented. All money raised by the
students will be donated to the American Cancer Society in the
name of Oregon-Davis Schools.
Starke County’s Relay For Life will take place starting at Noon

22nd at 6:00 a.m. CST at the Starke County Fairgrounds.
