North Judson Police Department

North Judson Police Department

From the North Judson Police Department:

The North Judson Police Department has conducted several welfare checks due to the poor weather conditions. If you believe someone is stranded or possible hurt, hungry, or stuck inside their home, don’t hesitate to call police to do a welfare check on them. It’s always better safe, than sorry.

“We have also responded to many mental illness type complaints recently, maybe it’s cabin fever,” stated North Judson Police Chief Doug Vessely. “However, you must remember that many times the hands of officers are tied with what they can and cannot do with a person dealing with a mental illness. It is always best for family members to attempt to get them help as a first choice.”

With many health facilities not accepting mental illness patients and the mental health intuitions throughout the county dwindling, the issue of what to do with patients is quickly becoming a national problem.

02/05/14 A report of an unwanted guest at a home in the Hubeny Subdivision resulted in the issuance of a criminal trespassing warning to the suspect. Any additional visits will result in arrest.

02/04/14 The Town of North Judson is dealing with snow removal problems. Officers want to remind you that if you park on a town street or parking lot your vehicle must be moved every 24 hours. Snowed-in or snow-covered vehicles need to be moved so the town may clean the street. You may still park there as long as the vehicles are operable, have the proper registration and moved every 24 hours. Police will begin enforcing this ordinance if the problem continues. The fine for the first offense is $50.00.
