Theft Ring Investigation Update Given to Pulaski County Commissioners

The investigation continues into a large-scale theft ring with ties to Pulaski County. The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department announced last week that four arrests had been made with more expected. This week, Sheriff Jeff Richwine gave an update to the county commissioners. “The deputies have been busy,” he said Tuesday. “We’re working on a huge case of stolen stuff from all over the state, really. It’s Michigan, every county that surrounds us, Kosciusko County, Noble County, Steuben County.”

Richwine added that the FBI visited earlier this week, and one of the Sheriff’s Department’s sergeants will be working with them on the investigation. “He gets sworn in as an FBI agent and a U.S. marshal, and they’ll pay any of his overtime,” Richwine said. “So that will be a good deal for us and something exciting for him, I’m sure.”

Among the items recovered were several trailers, snowmobiles, ATVs, and motorcycles. “Most of the stuff wasn’t stolen here, but almost all the suspects live here,” Richwine told the commissioners. “So it might work out good for us to run these people through the federal mill and maybe get them out of here for a while.”

Among those arrested earlier this month were two Medaryville residents and a Winamac resident.
