Senator Donnelly Acknowledges Knox Veteran and Hoosier Pride

U.S. Senator Joe Donnelly is touting his recent success at getting a Knox Navy Veteran his medals. Joe Perch earned medals while serving during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Through Donnelly’s service, Just Ask Joe, Perch was able to personally reach out to Donnelly about his missing war medals.

Donnelly’s office was then able to retrieve the medals for Perch in less than 90 days.

Donnelly says he’s happy to give Perch the medals, “That put a smile on my face, and probably on Joe’s too”.

When asked why Perch had to wait so long for the medals, Donnelly stated that during the 54 years some things got lost along the way but his team worked very hard to get Perch his  medals.

“Joe now has the medals he deserves for keeping our nation safe,” Donnelly stated.

Donnelly also spoke about his efforts to make the official federal government term for residents of Indiana “Hoosiers” instead of the term that was recognized by the government, “Indianans.” Donnelly worked with fellow U.S. Senator Todd Young to make this happen.

Donnelly said about the change Friday, “Well you know if anyone ever does call you an Indianan, they weren’t from Indiana.”
