Pulaski County Officials Thank Constituents, County Employees, Before Leaving Office

Pulaski County CourthouseLast week’s Pulaski County Commissioners meeting was the final one for several elected officials. The terms of commissioners Terry Young and Larry Brady and Auditor Shelia Garling all expire at the end of the week.

Various department heads thanked them for their service. At the end of the meeting, Young returned their complements. “I’d just like to thank the public of Pulaski County for allowing me to serve two terms. It’s been a privilege,” he said. “Thank you to Larry Brady, [County Attorney] Kevin Tankersley, all of our, I feel, great appointed department heads, which makes our job easier. We try to give them the tools they need to make our job easier, and just thanks, everybody. I hope Pulaski County continues to do well.”

Meanwhile, Brady said that it’s been an honor to serve Pulaski County as commissioner. “Some days are better than others,” he said. “Someone asked me early on, ‘What’s your agenda?’ I said, ‘Well, even if you have an agenda, don’t write it down because whatever walks through the door is going to change your agenda.’ And that’s true. But I’m grateful to live here in Pulaski County, and we’ll continue to live here and participate in this fine community.”

Brady was unseated by Kenny Becker as District 2 commissioner, while Terry Young will be replaced by Jerry Locke in District 1. Laura Wheeler takes over as Pulaski County auditor.
