Public Tip Leads to Whereabouts of Alleged Drug Dealer

A tip from the public has led to the arrest of a LaPorte man on an outstanding warrant for drug charges.

The LaPorte County Sheriff’s Department says they were called to assist at a residence in the 100 block of Union Street in Union Mills on Sunday. There, they located Tony “Chops” Bankson. He was wanted on felony charges of Dealing in Cocaine.

According to information released by the Sheriff’s Department, Bankson was previously arrested on separate charges of Dealing in Cocaine or a Narcotic Drug and was out on bond.

Bankson was placed under arrest and transported to the LaPorte County Jail.

The Sheriff’s Department says that the information provided by the public not only led to Bankson’s whereabouts and allegedly confirmed his continued involvement in drug-related activity, but also led to the discovery of a drug dealing location.

Bankson is being held without bond.
