Knox Wraps Up Street Paving, Prepares for Larger Road Projects

The City of Knox used one-time money from the state to pave additional streets this year. Street Superintendent Jeff Borg told the Board of Works on Wednesday they used $74,000 in Community Crossings grant funds along with the $54,100 in local money budgeted for street paving to have Rieth-Reilly Construction Co., Inc. do the work and said he’s happy with the finished product.Additional Community Crossings-funded projects are set to begin in a few days. They include resurfacing of Culver Road  between U.S. 35 and Klockner Drive, the extension of Henry Drive and the extension of 150 South between South Heaton Street and Roosevelt Road.

Borg says TD Tree Service removed 17 trees on 150 South in anticipation of that project. The city also cut down four trees and did six trimmings this year.

The Knox Street Department has also been spraying for adult mosquitoes and has treated standing water for larvae.
