The Winamac Park Board will continue its discussion of the 2017 park and recreation budget this evening. During a budget work session last week, Town Attorney Justin Schramm discussed the possibility of a special tax for park facilities, as well as a Rainy Day Fund. More information is expected when the park board meets tonight at 6:00.

Compensation for board members will also be considered during tonight’s meeting. They have not been receiving any payment for their services since the board began meeting in June.

In other business, the park board will discuss efforts to bring playground equipment into compliance with ADA requirements, and Katie Bierrum will provide an update on her efforts to create a five-year plan for Winamac’s park and recreation facilities.

The park board will also consider giving its final approval to a resolution formally establishing an advisory council. The nonvoting board would gather public input on the town’s park and recreation facilities, as well as help with potential fund raising efforts.

Tonight’s Winamac Park Board meeting will take place at the Winamac Municipal Utility Complex.
