Septic Management Can Help Avoid Problem Situations

The EPA and the Indiana State Department of Health is encouraging proper maintenance of private septic systems throughout the year.

More than one in five households depends on septic systems to manage their waste water and the departments are providing some tips to ensure proper and adequate care of those systems.

Indiana sees about 11-thousand septic systems installed each year. Homeowners can protect their investment by having it inspected every three years and having it pumped every three to five years.

Preventing grease and solids from being dumped into the septic system and staggering your water usage inside the home are also recommended.
