Pulaski County Council Holds Budget Hearing Monday Night

Pulaski County CourthouseThe Pulaski County Council will hold a hearing for the 2017 budget when they meet this evening.

Holding a hearing on the budget is among the steps required under statute prior to full adoption for the following fiscal year.

County Attorney Kevin Tankersley, however, will also address the Council on Monday about the state’s new internal control requirements. It is expected to cost as much as $50-thousand to complete, but is designed to prevent theft and fraud among local units of government.

The County Commissioners learn of the expectations last week, but the County Council must take action to proceed with the plans before the county can begin developing procedures and identify weaknesses in their money handling process.

Tonight’s meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. EST at the Pulaski County Courthouse.
