Driver Hospitalized After Single-Vehicle Crash

Authorities in Marshall County say alcohol may have been a factor in a single-vehicle injury crash in Walkerton. It happened shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday on 1st Road east of Tamarack Road, according to officials with the Marshall County Police Department. They responded, along with the Polk Township Fire Department and Walkerton EMS and found 19-year-old Caleb McCormick of North Liberty inside the 1994 Ford Ranger.

He was taken by ambulance to Memorial Hospital in South Bend for treatment of multiple injuries. The crash report indicates the truck traveled off the south side of the road and struck several trees. Charges have not been filed, but alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash.
