A man and woman from Monticello were arrested in Pulaski County early this morning after trying to outrun sheriff’s deputies. They responded to an open-line 911 call from a residence in the area of State Road 39 and County Road 400 South around 2 a.m. and found a man and a woman in a vehicle parked in the driveway of a residence. They reportedly drove off when the deputies tried to speak to them.

They pursued them south on 39 towards White County and say the vehicle with an attached trailer was traveling at a high rate of speed and swerving all over the road. It left the roadway near 700 South and eventually stopped in a cornfield. Deputies found the woman, 24-year-old Brittany Bonnell of Monticello in the car and arrested her.

The man took off on foot. Additional deputies from the White County Sheriff’s Department and Monticello Police were called in to assist with the search. Pulaski County Sheriff’s K-9 Thor was also used for tracking. The man, 34-year-old William L. Naydol of Monticello, was apprehended in a field south of the vehicle’s location and arrested.

A second man was identified as being at the residence when the burglary occurred, according to the incident report. He has not yet been located.

Further investigation determined items inside the trailer were taken from the residence, and a substantial amount of methamphetamine was found inside the vehicle.

Naydol been charged in Pulaski County Circuit Court with Dealing in Methamphetamine, Level 2 Felony; Possession of Methamphetamine, Level 3 Felony; Burglary, Level 5 Felony; Resisting Law Enforcement, Level 6 Felony; and Theft, a class A Misdemeanor.

Bonnell has been released from jail. Authorities advise the investigation is ongoing.
