Knox Mayor Dennis Estok says the band stage at Wythogan Park should be finished in November.

Work has started on the latest amenity at Wythogan Park in Knox. Mayor Dennis Estok told the city council Tuesday construction of the band stage is under way. It’s at the southeastern end of the park between the main entrance and U.S. 35. The project carries an estimated cost of $75,000. The city received an anonymous $10,000 donation for the project, and the Knox Redevelopment Commission set aside $40,000. The city council voted in May to transfer $25,000 in funds left over from the splash pad construction to cover the remaining expense.

Estok hopes to have it finished by November. He says the first city-sponsored performance there likely won’t take place until spring.
