LaPorte Police Issue 114 Citations During Latest Enforcement Blitz

LaPorte Police conducted additional enforcement patrols in July and August and hundreds were issued warnings and citations as a result.

Between July 28th and August 12th, officers worked 50 hours of Operation Pull Over patrols and 25 hours of aggressive driving patrols. The extra workload is grant funded through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. According to the police department, the goal was to prevent crashes, injuries, and fatalities.

114 citations and 116 warnings were written in LaPorte, according to a press release.

Most of the citations involved seatbelt violations, but officers did also ticket individuals for speeding, signal violations, child restraint violations, and nabbed a couple of motorists for driving with their license suspended.

Right now, the LaPorte Police Department is also participating in another Operation Pull Over blitz targeting impaired driving. That enforcement period runs through September 5th.
