Caucus Scheduled for Winamac Council Seat

A caucus has been scheduled to fill the vacancy on the Winamac Town Council. Pulaski County Republican Party Chair Blair Todd says precinct committee members will meet at the Pulaski County Public Library in Winamac on Monday, July 25 at 5:30 p.m. They will be choosing a replacement for former council president Kenneth McFarland, who passed away late last month.

Todd says two candidates have filed for the seat, as of Wednesday afternoon. Anyone else interested in running should file a form with both Todd and the Pulaski County Clerk’s Office.

Meanwhile, the remaining council members made some arrangements of their own, during their meeting Monday. Following a moment of silence in McFarland’s memory, council members opted to allow Tom Murray to continue serving as acting council president until the end of the year. Jim Watkins was selected to assume Murray’s former role as vice president.
