Sandra Lee Studio of Dance Recital Scheduled This Weekend

Dance recital“I Feel Better When I’m Dancing.” That’s the theme for the 39th annual Sandra Lee Studio of Dance recital, coming up this weekend at Knox High School. Owner Sandy Martinkus, better known as Miss Sandy, says 100 students from age 3 through adult from Starke, Marshall and Pulaski Counties will be taking part.

Performances range from discovering dance with students age 3 to 5 to ballet and lyrical numbers, rhythm and tap and cultural dances with touches of Hawaiian and Tahitian and Middle East. This year’s musical theatre number is based on Disney characters. The show even features Christian and liturgical dances.

This is Miss Sandy’s 40th year of teaching dance in Knox. She says a lot of prayer and planning go into each year. Classes start in September and end with the annual recital. This year’s performances will take placeSaturday, June 4 at 6:30 p.m. and Sunday, June 5 at 2 p.m. at the Knox High School auditorium. Tickets are $6 each and will be available at the door. Miss Sandy encourages community members to come support the performers.
