The City of Knox is hosting a free event to help residents protect themselves from identity theft and get rid of clutter. Bring your piles of papers to the city hall parking lot on Friday, June 24 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. to be shredded free of charge. Papers may be dropped off, or residents can wait until they are destroyed.
Shredding documents makes information unrecoverable, which lessens the likelihood someone will use your name, address, bank account or Social Security number to steal your identity.
