Knox Council Prepared to Receipt State LOIT Distribution

City_of_Knox_LogoThe Knox City Council voted Tuesday to establish a fund for receipt of a one-time tax distribution payment from the state. Of the $268,051 total Local Option Income Tax payment the city received, three-fourths of the money must be spent in accordance with state guidelines. The other 25-percent is unrestricted, according to Clerk-Treasurer Jeff Houston. He says the entire distribution will go into the same fund but will be listed as to what is earmarked and what is not.

Houston says all of the money will be spent on local roads and streets. Specific local plans have not been announced but could include things like road markings, signs, engineering work and sidewalks.

The council approved the establishment of the fund unanimously.
