A man and woman from Hamlet face felony marijuana charges following an investigation by the Starke County Major Crimes Unit. Members served a search warrant at a property on 400 North near Hamlet on Tuesday following an earlier arrest where a juvenile was found to be in possession of a large quantity of marijuana. Officers found out who supplied the drug to the youngster and learned he lived in a camper on a property near Hamlet, according to the incident report.
They reportedly found a large quantity of processed marijuana and several thousand dollars in cash inside the camper.
46-year-old Donnie Salyer and 46-year-old Dana Draper, both of Hamlet, face felony charges of dealing marijuana and maintaining a common nuisance. Officers also arrested 18-year-old Dante Freet of Hamlet on misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana and visiting a common nuisance.
Children were present when the search warrant was executed, so the Indiana Department of Child Services was contacted. The incident remains under investigation.
